3 Tips For Preparing For Your Headshots
Here are a few things to consider when preparing for your headshot session:
CLOTHING:
Tailored, well fitting clothing is most flattering.
Choose clothing that is appropriate for your business when you are at your best. There are several examples of clothing choices that work well on my website, so you can revisit the gallery for inspiration.
Consider the branding standards of your company, when you consider color. Basic black or gray works for many companies, but you can use a color that is great on you or expresses your style and personality if you are your business.
Stay away from clothing that has very fine patterns or details and generally steer away from bold patterns that may distract from your face.
Make sure that you have your outfit choices steamed and pressed before your appointment. If you’d like, bring a few more clothing options than you need and we will help choose the best looks for the camera.WATER & REST:
A fresh face projects confidence and energy that positively impacts your image.
Moisturize your skin and lips and trim/pluck any stray hairs (eyebrows, chin, nose, ears).
Drink plenty of water in the days before your session and get several hours of good sleep to give your skin a more vibrant and healthy looking appearance.
Don’t fret about blemishes, our retouching service addresses blemish removal, softening lines, and lightening under eyes.SKIN & GROOMING
Plan ahead and schedule your hair cut or color and beard trim in the week or two before your session.
Be sure to have your hands and nails freshly manicured for photo day.
Women Hair & Makeup
I recommend that you pamper yourself with professional hair and makeup. It makes a big difference in how your skin photographs and helps you feel more confident and beautiful and relaxed about your appearance.
If you are applying your own makeup, wear light, natural looking makeup. Make sure your eyes look amazing with a little mascara at the minimum and have at least a touch of color for your lips. Bring your products with you so you have the option to apply more or repair if needed. Please avoid shiny lip gloss.
Avoid wearing makeup that contains SPF as this will be reflective on camera.
If you are doing your own hair, come with your hair clean, styled, and ready to be photographed.
Men Hair & Face
Have your hair, beard, eyebrows, etc trimmed neatly a day or two before your session. The morning of your session; if you prefer a clean-shaven look - be sure to shave, trim and pluck.
