The Studio Editorial Session for Athletes
Edgy lighting, fog, and a blue gel to match his school color, make him look like an Olympic swimmer!
An Editorial Session for an athlete is a “pro experience” where a story is being told through photographic images highlighting their strength, hard work, and skill.
This is a custom shoot in my studio with professional lighting techniques, dramatic posing and angles, serious or tough expressions, and clean backgrounds. You choose the focus of the session; sports, dance, or anything you are passionate about.
Things to consider when preparing for your session:
decide on a focus - your style, athleticism, or talents - and bring all uniforms, clothing, and the appropriate gear/equipment to your session
looks could include sports gear, dance costumes, eye black, athletic wear, logo/team wear
complete your outfit with clean footwear, cleats, skates, tennis shoes, etc
include accessories like sunglasses, balls, bats, hats/helmets/head gear, awards, trophies, all other equipment
PACK EVERYTHING, even if you aren’t sure we will use it so we have it available if we are inspired with a unique idea
Not the typical ‘smile at the camera’ expression.
Consider these three concepts when planning for your session:
Gelled lighting, fog, water, and fire all enhance the images we create.
Catchers gear, an intense expression, and gelled lighting and water make this image.
2. Poses and lighting will highlight your strength, set the mood of the image, and serve as a creative way to tell your story.
This lighting technique beautifully shows her strength and muscle definition!
3. Expression is typically more serious, tough, or intense.
I wouldn’t want to be on the other side of this linebacker!
The Editorial Session is a great complement to an outdoor session or it can also stand alone as a collection of images in a beautiful custom Album or as a set of Metal Prints that create a very cool wall display.
Of course, you will receive digital versions of the images you order to share on all your social media platforms and wow your followers.
